This is a guesthouse that takes "guest" and "house" seriously. The staff treats the inhabitants as guests in their home, and really kind of expects them to return the favor. They go to some effort to teach you how to politely fit in (with a little cheat sheet of the important phrases!) I rented the private tatami room, with a futon, and a view over the rooftops of the mountain after which the guesthouse is named, as well as a small balcony. The house is clean, quiet, and well-equipped, with kitchen, library, and cafe. There's a major bus stop two blocks away, at the corner of the Kyoto University campus, and two train lines ten minutes walk down the street. The local shopping area has multiple good restaurants and bars, as well as a couple of supermarkets, a 7-11, and a big drugstore.

All the staff are really nice and attentive, really helpful and accommodating if possible. The place is clean, spacious and quiet at all times, it's located in a great area, near the subway station, busses, and lots of stores and restaurants around. The rooms are comfortable and the bed space is a lot bigger than it looked in the pictures, it was a really nice stay, would have stayed even longer if they hadn't been sold out. They received my luggage from the airport and when I left they helped me to get a taxi with all my suitcases, I completely recommend this hostel, I miss it already! ❤

this guesthouse is very cosy yet very clean and organized, spacious and welcoming. I really appreciated the living room space with books (i only stayed one night so i did not use the kitchen except for tea, but otherwise it’s a great addition to be able to cook!). they also have a restaurant and it all feels very homey yet seamlessly organized. A bus stop is only a couple minutes away.

very nice, cleane, calm place to stay plus i really liked the location it was a bit out of turist madness but also very easy to get to all places ypu need to. Its close by public train station and next to it is place where you can rent bike which i would recomend its also very close by the river so rent your bike and go to cycle along the river. I would defenetly come back.

Perfect location near Demachyanagi station. Good for traveling by Keihan electric railway. From Osaka to Kyoto, and transfer to Kurama and Hieizan line. Due to Kyoto university is around, there are supermarket, convenient store, restaurants and bars near by. Dormitory bed is comfortable with curtains. Anything you need can be found in the lobby.
